  • Developed a novel background estimation algorithm for document image binarization.

  • Used K-Means clustering algorithm followed by a background separation.

  • Novel approach using C-Means clustering for binarization.

  • Applied MinMax K-means algorithm.

  • Developed a new ensemble technique of three clustering algorithms.

Achievements: i) 2 accepted conference papers ii) 1 accepted journal paper iii) won first prize in DIBCO 2019 competition held worldwide.  

Handwritten Character Recognition

  • Proposed new shape and structured based features.

  • Developed some efficient feature vectors based on the concept of Physics, like –based on the incident property of light, reflection, refraction etc. are used.

  • Developed a graph theory based approach to generate a path in order to estimate the nature of the stroke.

  • Worked on key point generation and Key point optimization.

Medical Image Processing

  • Developed a novel touching component separation algorithm.

  • Developed new methods for handwritten and printed text separation, numerical and alphabet separation, and text non-text separation.

  • Proposed a novel technique for “eliminating touching component in tables” of a form.

  • Developed a GUI where end-to-end form processing system can be shown.

  • Developing a new ground truth generating system.

  • Separately worked on text non-text separation on document images and proposed a new texture based feature.

  • Literature survey of various region, connected component and pixel based text non-text separation methods.

Steganography

  • Explored on Secondary Structure Sequence (SSS), Simplified Sequence (SS), Amino Acid Sequence and Exchange Group Sequence of a protein.

  • Designed unique features based on surface area, sphericity and positional moment.

  • Data parsing - 675, 1189 and SCOP

Feature Selection

  • Worked on various wrapper, filter and embedded feature selection methods.

  • Implemented various Filter methods based on Information measures: Mutual Information, Information Gain, Symmetric Uncertainty. Distance Measure: Relief-F, Fisher Score, Laplacian Score.
    Dependency Measures: T-Test, Chi-Square, Pearson Correlation Coefficient.

  • Proposed a unique feature ensemble method based on majority voting, sum rule and union.

  • Proposed a unique method : PCC based BPSO method
